Fall is an Important Time to Install a Technologically Advanced Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Bilingual Voice Alert & Emergency Response Notifications
Phoenix, AZ (Oct. 13, 2021) – Upcoming seasonal weather changes spur activation of residential furnaces, fireplaces, water heaters, and gas appliances; all potential sources of increased carbon monoxide (CO) levels. The change of seasons also triggers an increase in common flu cases, with symptoms that can mimic those of carbon monoxide poisoning. Knowing when carbon monoxide is present can only be accomplished with a working CO alarm - and being alerted to higher levels of CO early saves lives and reduces long-term injuries.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the best way to ensure a home’s residents are protected from dangerous levels of carbon monoxide is to install a CO alarm on every level of the residence, and in a central area outside of every sleeping area.
“As the weather changes, more time is spent indoors with windows and doors closed. Individuals spending increased time working from home, with children, or elderly family members, must all take home safety measures even more seriously due to the continuous amounts of time indoors,” said Cathy Prudhomme, Director of Marketing Communications, Knox Company. Research has shown infants, older adults, and pets are often the first to be affected by high CO levels.
Knox Safety, a division of the Knox Company recently introduced an advanced carbon monoxide alarm that detects CO and alerts and alarms with both voice and scrolling LED text that notifies occupants when levels change and before the situation becomes a medical emergency.” The Knox Safety CO Alarm is now available to consumers and organizations at Walmart stores in the 48 contiguous states.
New and advanced features offered by the Knox Safety CO Alarm include:
- Being the only alarm on the market featuring the TRIO™ Warning System which alerts occupants to the current CO danger levels in the home with visual icons, large scrolling LED text, and a voice message on what the CO danger is, and what to do next.
- Over 20 voice alerts in English or Spanish.
- Easy to read visual warning icons, action icons, and scrolling LED text alerts in English or Spanish.
- The alarm differentiates between low and high levels of CO and alerts with the proper warnings and required safety actions accordingly.
- Peak level memory function which will notify if CO was previously detected and if so, at what levels to help trigger and encourage preventative action.
- Includes a 10-year sealed battery and product warranty.
- Features easy set up and activation.
The National Carbon Monoxide Awareness Association reports that CO is responsible for almost 50,000 emergency-room visits and 1,200 deaths annually, making it the leading cause of injuries, outpacing car accidents. You cannot see, taste, or smell CO. The only way to know when it’s present is with a working CO alarm. Currently, the Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that only 42 percent of U.S. households have working CO alarms.
